XO Africa ("XO", "we", "us") provides a verified dating and social-discovery platform for the global African diaspora. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the rights you have over it.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: name, email, password, date of birth.
  • Profile content: photos, bio, gender, interests, languages, location preferences, voice intro.
  • Verification data: government ID, selfie, liveness video (used only to verify identity and prevent fraud).
  • Messages, swipes, matches, blocks and reports.
  • Payment details processed by Stripe (we never store full card numbers).

Information collected automatically

  • Device identifiers, push tokens, IP address, user-agent.
  • Approximate or precise location, only when you grant permission.
  • Usage events (page views, taps, errors) for analytics and abuse detection.

2. How we use your information

  • Provide and personalise the service — show you compatible people.
  • Verify identity, prevent fraud, enforce community guidelines.
  • Deliver messages, matches, and push notifications.
  • Process subscriptions and prevent payment abuse.
  • Improve product quality through aggregate analytics.
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

3. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Other members — the profile fields you choose to publish.
  • Service providers (cloud hosting, payments, analytics) under contract.
  • Law enforcement when required by valid legal process.

4. Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, profile, photos, messages, matches, swipes, and verification documents are permanently removed. Anonymised analytics and payment-compliance records are retained without identifiers as required by law.

5. Your rights

  • Access, correct, export, or delete your data from in-app Settings.
  • Withdraw consent for location or push notifications at any time.
  • Object to processing or request restriction (EU/UK/Brazil residents).
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

6. Children

XO is strictly for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

7. International transfers

Your data may be processed in the United States, the European Union, and other countries where our providers operate. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent safeguards.

8. Security

We use encryption in transit and at rest, row-level access controls, audit logging, and continuous monitoring. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique password.

9. Changes

We will notify you in-app of material changes. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
